About

  • One woman's attempt to describe the weirdness of being pregnant. I started drawing when I was pregnant for the first time, to capture the strangeness of it all. I have continued to be inspired by women on the street who are pregnant and who have a certain poise in those uncanny nine months.
  • I wonder sometimes whether it is simply because I live near the national maternity hospital in Dublin that I see pregnant women everywhere, or whether in some way I am still replaying in an endless loop the experience of carrying two babies in quick succession. Either way, when I see a pregnant woman on the street, I look. I look to see how she puts it all together, how she handles being pregnant in the public eye. And if I have a pen handy, I start drawing.
